New Year’s Resolution: Use Your New Holiday Gear
By Elissa Bowling | Wednesday, December 28
Here's one resolution you won't mind keeping...
Your loved ones listened when you said you wanted to get outside more, and the holidays brought on a bounty of fleece layers, new boots, or maybe a full-on mountain bike. When you rip the wrapping paper off that new tent, your mind races with the possibilities: overnight beach treks with a gorgeous sunset followed by an early morning surf session, backpacking a section of the Appalachian Trail above treeline, driving cross-country and never paying for a hotel. The endless potential gets your blood pumping and takes holiday spirits to a new high.
Like all good things, the holiday season will come to an end. Our message from GuideHire: don’t let the inevitable return to the daily grind dissipate your excitement! The lack of gear is one of the biggest inhibitors keeping people from giving new or more technical outdoor activities a shot. Thanks to the generous folks you hold dear, that’s no excuse anymore! Hold onto that original spike in anticipation, and get out there. That beautiful fly rod doesn’t belong in your closet collecting dust.
Remember, if you don’t have all the gear for your ideal adventure, our guides can step in with rental gear of their own or expert recommendations on where to rent or purchase.
2017 is closing in fast: make your New Year’s resolution to use your new gear and get outside.
