A Big Win For The Outdoor Community!
By Jared Zissu | Wednesday, April 20
Yesterday, for the first time in history, the US Government launched an initiative to measure and quantify the outdoor industry’s impact on the U.S economy.
The outdoor industry has been a massive economic engine for decades, but has never been taken as serious as other sectors - like natural resources, ranching, travel, tourism and the arts. After Secretary Jewell’s announcement yesterday, outdoor recreation will now be included in the Gross Domestic Product reports for the US. The reason this is a big win for the outdoor community is because leaders in Washington, DC, will now see investments in this industry, as investments in Americas health. Instead of the outdoor recreation being ‘nice to have’, it now becomes a ‘must have’, for supporting healthy communities and economies across the US. Huge props to the Outdoor Industry Association, for the hard work and dedication they have provided in support of this happening.
